WAYNESBORO – Residents of Washington Township, Franklin County, are now under a strict open burning ban effective from noon on Wednesday, Oct. 30. This decision, mandated by Chapter 128 of the Township Code, aims to mitigate the risk of wildfires in the area due to current environmental conditions.

The announcement was made by Vernon Ashway, the Township Manager, who emphasized the importance of adhering to this regulation for community safety. The ban prohibits any open burning activities, including the burning of leaves, lumber, and other debris. Violations of this ban could result in penalties as outlined in local ordinances.

The Washington Township Board of Supervisors is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents during this critical time. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about local regulations and to report any violations to the township office.
