The Waynesboro Model Railroad Club, nestled in an old grain elevator in Waynecastle, continues to captivate train enthusiasts with its impressive collection of model railroads. Founded in 1990, the club has grown from a traveling holiday display to a permanent home that showcases four distinct scale model railroad layouts.
What began as a mobile exhibition in local shopping malls has transformed into a dedicated space for model railroad enthusiasts. The club found its permanent home in the mid-1990s, establishing a remarkable presence in the local community.
The club boasts an impressive array of model railroad scales:
- HO-Scale: The largest layout, occupying the first floor
- N-Scale: A newly-renovated layout on the second floor
- 2-Rail O-Scale: Perimeter layout on the second floor
- 3-Rail O-Scale: Central layout capable of running four trains simultaneously
The Waynesboro Model Railroad Club continues to share its passion through regular open houses, inviting the public to experience the intricate world of model railroading. Their upcoming Holiday Open House schedule offers free admission on multiple dates in December 2024 and January 2025, providing train enthusiasts and families an opportunity to explore their meticulously crafted layouts. Located at 3291 Waynecastle Road in Greencastle, PA, the club welcomes all who share a love for model trains, maintaining a rich tradition of craftsmanship and community spirit.
