WAYNESBORO – The Greater Waynesboro Area will host the Eighth Annual Mason-Dixon Appalachian Trail Outdoor Festival on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Red Run Park in Rouzerville.

The free rain-or-shine event provides opportunities for hikers and outdoor lovers of all kinds to learn more about the Appalachian Trail in the Mason-Dixon region. A variety of activities will be offered at the family-friendly Red Run Park, located at 12143 Buchanan Trail East, just west of where the famous hiking trail crosses PA Route 16.

Live music will entertain festival-goers throughout the day. The band Mountain Air kicks things off at 10 a.m., followed by Trail Troubadours Bruce Rowland and Mike Reyka at 11:30 a.m. The bluegrass group Shade Tree Collective will perform from 1-4 p.m.

In addition to the musical acts, the festival aims to educate attendees about the area’s outdoor attractions. Donations will be accepted to support future improvements to the playgrounds at Red Run Park, a popular community space in Washington Township.

Billed as an event “providing opportunities for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts,” the festival celebrates the Greater Waynesboro area’s designation as an Appalachian Trail Community by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. This national recognition highlights the community’s commitment to promoting and protecting the famous hiking trail.

Organizers encourage the public to attend and experience the natural beauty of the region. The event will proceed as scheduled unless severe weather poses a risk. More details can be found on the festival’s website at waynesboroatc.org
