CHAMBERSBURG– Police in Chambersburg are investigating the shooting death of one person who was found dead at Southgate Mall. The dead individual has not yet been identified.
According to police, on Dec. 18 at 6:44 p.m., officers responded to 211 Southgate Mall for a reported shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a body lying in the roadway.
Police said that multiple witnesses told police that a fight broke out shortly before shots were fired. Officers indicated there is no ongoing threat to the public, but they asked anyone with information to phone 717-264-4131 or submit an anonymous tip online.
Police are searching for the operator of a light-colored van. The driver is considered a person of interest and is not a suspect at this time, police added.
