Richard Adams Peirce, 72, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at his residence.


He was the husband of the late Phyllis Maria Heasley Peirce, and the late Deloris Irene Bollinger Peirce.


Born July 4, 1938, in Niagara Falls, Canada, he was the son of the late Norman and Viola Myrtle Adams Pierce.


He was a U. S. Navy Veteran.


Mr. Peirce served from 1964 until 1984 with the DC Metropolitan Police Force.


From 1985 until 2000, he was employed with PEPCO.


He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.


Surviving are two daughters, Melinda A. Pike and Amy E. Pelton, both of Hagerstown; sons Scott R. Peirce of Fairfax, Virginia, Mark F. Peirce of Florida, and Richard W. Pierce of North Weymoth, Massachusetts; as well as two sisters Sandra Regester and Mary Peirce, both of San Born, New York; and nine grandchildren.


Besides his spouses and parents, Mr. Peirce was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Peirce.


Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.


There will not be calling at the funeral home. The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the arrangements.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Peirce’s name may be made to Disabled Police Officers of America, 222 Government Avenue, Suite C, Niceville, Florida
