Mr. Richard Allen Downin, 59, of Waynesboro, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024.
Born August 19, 1964 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Mrs. Patricia (Barnes) Downin, a resident of Quincy Village and the late Mr. Richard E. “Dick” Downin who passed away May 2, 2024.
Richard attended Waynesboro Area Senior High School where he later received his GED.
In early years, he was employed by Regency Thermographers. He later worked for John R. Oliver Homes in Leitersburg, MD, W. R. Oyer Construction in Rouzerville, Waynesboro Housing Authority and in maintenance at Camp Penn.
Richard was a former member of both the Owls Club and Eagles Club, Inc.
He enjoyed Sprint Car Racing, music of many kinds and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his mother, Richard leaves behind one son, Joshua Allen Downin (Tracy Deshong) of Blue Ridge Summit; granddaughter, Paige Marie Wells and her husband, Anthony of Cascade; three great-grandchildren, Novah Jordyn Wells, Parker Storm Wells and August Saint Wells; four bonus grandchildren; two sisters, Sondra Monn and her husband, Nevin and Debrah Rock and her husband, Mike, all of Waynesboro; one brother, Robert Downin and his wife, Dona of Leitersburg, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Richard’s Life and the life of his late father will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Red Run Park, Rouzerville at a time to be announced.
Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
