Mrs. Peggy Lee Reed Thompson, 88, of Hagerstown, fondly known as “Big Mamma”, died Friday night, August 23, 2019, at Doey’s Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Stacy L. Thompson, Jr.
Born October 10, 1931, at Georgetown Hospital, Washington, DC, she was a daughter of the late Bruce Lee and Nellie Neal Ridenour Reed.
Peggy was a member of Carmody Hills Baptist Church, Capitol Heights; and Past President of the Rankin Circle Choir.
She is survived by children, Terry Lee, Wayne Randolph, Ricky Louis, Dale Robert, and Johnny Van Thompson, and Joann Bonita Ball; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren; as well as her sister Ruby Payne.
Besides her husband and parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her children, Jerry Leon Thompson, Mary Beth Evans, and Sherry Darlene Montaque.
A memorial service will be held at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 3:00PM. The Rev. Donald R. Stevenson will officiate.
