Esther L. Freeman, 83, of Waynesboro, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Quincy Retirement Village. Born January 3, 1941 in Davidsville, PA, she was raised in Greencastle by the late Norman and Rhoda Kuhn and the late Annie and Preston Eshelman. Her beloved husband, Ray E. Freeman, preceded her in death in 2008.
Esther was a 1959 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. She was employed as a seamstress with Waynesboro Knitting Mill, Stanley Co. in Chambersburg, and Franklin Clothing in Shippensburg. She was a member of Greencastle Church of the Brethren. Esther enjoyed playing bingo and antiquing with her son Tim.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Freeman (Judy) of Waynesboro, step grandchildren; step great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Gail Curo of Jerome, PA, and Susan Marie Heller (Dan) of Johnstown. Aside from her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark E. Freeman in 1986; and her brother, Ronald Stevens.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle Street, Greencastle, PA 17225. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
