New Police Chief Sworn In, Officer Appointed in Greencastle

GREENCASTLE- The Borough of Greencastle has a new police chief following a ceremony held during the regular council meeting on Monday evening. Officer in charge Keith Russell was sworn in to the position of police chief by Greencastle Mayor Ben Thomas, Jr. after being appointed by the Borough Council. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Chief Russell’s family, fellow officers, representatives from law enforcement organizations, and citizens. Chief Russell is a 17-year veteran of the Greencastle Police Department (GPD) and has a total of 23 years of experience and education in law enforcement. He also served in the United States Navy. In addition to the new police chief, Chambersburg resident Cristopher Miller was appointed and sworn in as a part-time police officer with the GPD. The Greencastle Civil Service Commission announced plans to conduct testing for full-time police employment in the near future. Prospective applicants are advised to contact the Borough office for more information on the application process.
