WAYNESBORO – Just in time for holiday baking and other needs, NestFresh of Chambersburg has donated 900 dozen free-range, organic eggs – yes, count ’em, 900 dozen – to the Five Forks Church Food Bank in Waynesboro.
Glenn Wingert, who works with the food bank, said that donation will quickly be put to good use. The church serves about 300 local families in need of assistance, and the food bank is supported by the Five Forks congregation and about 30 volunteers.
The pantry is open three days a week, Mondays and Fridays from noon to 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. The food bank carries perishable and non-perishable food items. While NestFresh and other producers are regular food bank contributors, Wingert said the egg company wanted to do something extra for the holidays.
