WAYNESBORO—The Waynesboro Area Senior High School varsity boys and girls swim teams both defeated visiting Susquehanna Township on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Waynesboro Area YMCA. The Maidens won all 12 events en route to a 134-32 victory, while the Indians won nine of 12 events on their way to a 114-55 win.
For the girls, wins in all three relays helped solidify the lopsided outcome. Waynesboro also swept six individual events. Double winners were Eve Phillips (50 freestyle and 100 butterfly), Ruth Phillips (200 individual medley and 100 freestyle) and Mady Barker (200 freestyle and 100 backstroke).
Addi Callaway won the 400 freestyle, while Lili Moreno took first place in the 100 breaststroke.
Rylie Tritle swam a leg on the winning 200 medley relay team as well as the 200 freestyle relay. She also placed second in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle events.
On the boys’ side, the Indians won the 200 freestyle relay (Gabe Blake, Andrew Bryan, Owen Shockey and JB Bonner) and the 400 freestyle relay (Will Yost, Cello Dimino, Ethan McDonald and Aiden Hess).
Yost added individual wins in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle. Riley Morgan won the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.
JB Bonner bested the field in the 100 butterfly, while Bryan won the 100 freestyle and Hess claimed the top spot in the 100 backstroke.
The Indians and Maidens were back in the pool on Friday to face Cedar Cliff on the road. Different location, same results. The Waynesboro boys’ team defeated the Colts 130-39. The Maidens topped Cedar Cliff 123-52.
Waynesboro is off until Tuesday, Jan. 7 when they travel to Dillsburg to compete against Northern York. The Indians and Maidens then travel to East Pennsboro on Thursday, Jan. 9.
The next home meet for Waynesboro is Thursday, Jan. 16 against Trinity.
