BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT – Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue welcomes the public’s attendance at two upcoming events, a “Wing Night” on Oct. 26 and a Fall Faire Nov. 16.

“Wing Night” will begin at 4:30 on Saturday, Oct. 26, with the option of several types of wing sauce, family-friendly festivities and games of chance. The food will be served at 6 p.m., according to Fire Chief Chris Corle.

“This event helps the department buy equipment for our firefighters and EMT’s, train personnel and keeps our trucks running to help those in need”, added Corle. The event is free for children 5 and younger, $10 for those aged 6 to 12 and $20 for those 12 years of age and older. Tickets may be purchased by contacting Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue, 717-794-2323.

The department is also opening its community hall for the Fall Faire which will showcase arts and crafts by local vendors. “This event is special, some of the money will go to the Amanda Bowders Memorial Garden,” Corle said. The memorial garden was created to honor a local teenager who lost her life in a sledding accident in February 2007. The garden was created in remembrance of Bowders but adapted over the past several years to memorialize other local residents.

The Fall Faire will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone interested in a vendor space should contact Lynn Martin at 717-729-7461. Corle encourages the entire community to join in these events and support their local fire and rescue department.
