HAGERSTOWN – Some 300 runners are expected through the streets of Hagerstown when the city hosts the Hub City Half Marathon, Sunday, April 6. City officials and event organizers were to review the proposed race course during a City Council work session on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Runners will pass over a 13.1-mile course that weaves through the city and surrounding areas in Washington County. The route closely mirrors a previous half-marathon course used for the St. Patrick’s Day Run Fest.
The race will begin at Marty Snook Park and include several road closures throughout Hagerstown to ensure the safety of participants. The event will finish at Meritus Park Stadium, where participants and spectators will gather to celebrate the accomplishment. Organizers have met with city and county officials to finalize logistics, including traffic control, safety protocols and community notifications.
Organizers are also encouraging residents to cheer along the course.
The council is expected to approve the event’s course and logistical plans during its Dec. 17 meeting.
