CHAMBERSBURG – Chambersburg police say they will charge a local man with making terroristic threats and domestic assault after a multi-hour standoff with police on Wednesday.
Gregory Laurore, 41, was taken into custody after a seven-hour standoff at his home on Garber Street. He was taken to a medical facility for evaluation but is expected to be charged after release, police said.
The standoff began at 11:08 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, when Chambersburg police to Laurore for a suspected assault. It was reported that he had threatened to stab numerous family members.
When officers arrived, Laurore brandished two knives while in his backyard. Officers began attempting to speak with Laurore, and he was very uncooperative, reports said.
At approximately 6:16 p.m., Laurore was taken into custody without incident and transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation. Laurore is set to be charged with terroristic threats and simple sssault- domestic violence, reports said.
Laurore has previously been charged and pleaded guilty to charges of misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in 2018 as well as in 2020 for the same charge. Local authorities also charged Laurore with misdemeanor simple assault in January of 2021, with him pleading guilty in March of 2021 to that charge, according to media reports.
