George B. “Sunny” Straley, 91, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025 at his residence. Born March 29, 1933 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Soloman and Louella (George) Straley.
Sunny served honorably with the United States Army retiring after 24 years of service. He was a proud Korea and Vietnam Veteran. Following his retirement from the Army he was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for 9 years. Sunny was a member of King Street Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nellie (Fleming) Straley who he married March 30, 1956; two children, Terry L. Diehl (Jeremy) of Shippensburg, PA and Douglas L. Straley of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Chris Murray (Cassie), Susan Yocum (Robert), and Trevor Diehl; four great-grandchildren, Brycen Murray, Addrienne Yocum, Patrick Yocum, and Tanner Murray. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Mable Oyler, Emma Miller, Helen Hoover, and Gladys Culbertson.
Services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2025 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Ron Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery where military honors will be rendered by members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday afternoon in the funeral home.
