CHAMBERSBURG – A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot in the head on Thursday, Dec. 12, in the 200 block of Birch Street, according to police and media reports. The boy was first taken to Chambersburg Hospital, then flown to an advanced care facility, officers said.

Anthony McCune, 20, of Chambersburg was arrested on firearms-related charges as a result of “ongoing investigation into the shooting,” police said. They declined to provide other details in the early stage of their investigation. This is believed to be an isolated incident, officers said.

News reports indicated McCune went to a resident to visit with four juveniles there. He reportedly had the gun in his jacket, then left it on a counter where the four younger people were playing with it.

Chambersburg Police requested that anyone with information contact the department at 717-264-4131 or submit a tip through Crime watch: https://franklin.crimewatchpa.com/chambersburgpd/21193/incidents/shooting-1
