WAYNESBORO – The following films will be shown at the Waynesboro Theatre, 75 W. Main St., through Christmas Eve:

Friday, Dec. 20, 4 p.m. “Jack Frost” (PG 1:45) As a touring musician clinging to dreams of stardom, aging rocker Jack Frost (Michael Keaton) never had much time for his wife, Gabby (Kelly Preston), and young son, Charlie (Joseph Cross). A year after Jack’s tragic death in a car accident on Christmas Day, Charlie plays a mournful tune on his father’s harmonica. Much to his surprise, the elder Frost is magically brought to life as a snowman on the family lawn. Given a second chance, Charlie and Jack struggle to make up for lost time.

Friday, Dec. 20, 7 p.m. “The Christmas Chronicles” (PG 1:45) Siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce hatch a scheme to capture Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. When the plan goes awry, the kids join forces with a somewhat jolly Saint Nick and his loyal elves to save the holiday before it’s too late.

Saturday, Dec. 21, 11 a.m. “Christmas TV Classics” (G 2:00) JOIN US AS WE SHOW 3 TV CLASSICS BACK-TO-BACK ON OUR BIG SCREEN! DR.SEUSS HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, FRANKLINS MAGICAL CHRISTMAS & ANABELLES WISH!

Saturday, Dec. 21, 4 & 7 p.m. “Elf” (PG 1:30) Buddy (Will Ferrell) was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father. As it happens, this is Walter Hobbs (James Caan), a cynical businessman. After a DNA test proves this, Walter reluctantly attempts to start a relationship with the childlike Buddy with increasingly chaotic results.

Sunday, Dec. 22, 4 p.m. “The Bishops Wife” (G 1:50) Dejected by his efforts to raise money to build a cathedral, Bishop Henry Brougham (David Niven) beseeches heaven for guidance, and is visited immediately by Dudley (Cary Grant), who claims to be an angel. Henry is skeptical, then annoyed when Dudley ingratiates himself into the household as his assistant — and worse, wins the attentions of Henry’s long-suffering and kindly wife (Loretta Young). When Dudley continues to intervene in Henry’s struggles, the bishop decides to challenge heaven.

Monday, Dec. 23, 7 p.m. “Lemony Snickets A Series of Unfortunate Events” (PG 1:50) After the three young Baudelaire siblings are left orphaned by a fire in their mansion, they are carted off to live with their distant relative, Count Olaf (Jim Carrey). Unfortunately, Olaf is a cruel, scheming man only after the inheritance that the eldest Baudelaire, Violet (Emily Browning), is set to receive. The children escape and find shelter with their quirky Uncle Monty (Billy Connolly) and, subsequently, their phobic Aunt Josephine (Meryl Streep), but Olaf is never far behind.

Tuesday, Dec. 24, 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. “The Polar Express” (G 1:40) A young boy who has grown sceptical of Santa Claus is shocked to see a train stop outside his window on Christmas Eve, destined for the North Pole. When he accepts an invitation from the conductor to climb on board, he embarks on a white-knuckle ride to Santa’s headquarters, where he makes fast friends and learns an invaluable lesson about the true spirit of Christmas.
