Franklin County marketing students shine at DECA district competition

Franklin County Career and Technology Center celebrated the achievements of its marketing students after their impressive performance at the DECA District Competition Dec. 10 at York College. Competing against 15 other high schools from across Pennsylvania, these students showcased their skills in various marketing disciplines.

Among the standout performers was Savanna Shoemaker, a 12th grader from the Shippensburg Area School District, who secured Second Place in Food Marketing. Makayla Baker, a 10th grader from the Chambersburg Area School District, also earned Second Place in Marketing Communications. In addition, Danny Maguire, another 12th grader from Shippensburg, achieved Fourth Place in Business Service Marketing.

Other notable placements included Landen Swain (10th grade, Greencastle-Antrim School District) with Fourth Place in Automotive Services Marketing, Kaitlyn Moser (12th grade, Chambersburg) who took Fourth Place in Sports and Entertainment Marketing, and Miguel Izquierdo (12th grade, Tuscarora Area School District) who finished with Fourth Place in Personal Finance.

The success of these students reflects the education and training provided by the Franklin County Career and Technology Center, which aims to equip students with essential skills for their future careers. The center continues to foster an environment where students can thrive and excel in competitive settings, Center officials noted.
