Celebrate First Friday with friends and cider!. First Friday “Cider Sampling” event at John Allison Public House in Greencastle on Oct. 4, from 6 to p.m. Attendees can buy a pint and keep the glass, while supplies last, and enter for a chance to win a $50 gift card. The evening will continue with live music from City Creek Band from 8 to 11 p.m.

Join the pumpkin carving fun. Jim’s Non-Profit Pumpkin Fest will take place at Jim’s Farmers Market in Chambersburg on Oct. 4 and 5. This event invites local non-profit organizations to participate by decorating pumpkins, which will be displayed next to donation bins. The group that collects the most donations will win all the funds raised. This festive occasion not only provides a chance to win money but also offers exposure to the market’s thousands of visitors each weekend

Taste history. The Shippensburg History Center will host “Frontier Beer, Tea, Tavern Games, and Bread” as part of the King Street Stroll on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees can explore the history of 1700s beers like Spruce, Porter and Ale, participate in tavern game and learn about traditional bread-making. For those under 21, a selection of historical teas will be available.

Bring the kids to the market. Kid Zone at Market Day in Downtown Waynesboro will take place at the Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home Parking Lot on Saturday Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. This family-friendly event will feature activities such as bounce houses, a puppet show by Adam Swartz at 11 a.m., a magic show by Frank Culler at 2 p.m., hands-on STEM workshops in partnership with the local library, crafts by Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, kiddie barrel rides with Mr. Jim, as well as tours and giveaways from the Waynesboro Ambulance Squad and Fire Department.

Attend a hoedown. The Harvest Hoedown Event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5,, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 30 W. Salisbury St., Williamsport, Md. This family-friendly event is free to attend and features a variety of activities including games, music, scarecrow making, food and vendors. Additionally, it will be held rain or shine, and attendees are encouraged to bring donations of canned and dry goods for the Williamsport Food Bank.
