Mrs. Delores J. (Davis) Birely, 87, a resident of The Leland of Laurel Run, Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, in the personal care home.
Born August 31, 1937 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Leroy C. and Alice Marie (Bingaman) Davis.
She and her husband, the late Edward C. Birely, were married on December 24, 1955 in Hagerstown, MD. Mr. Birely died on September 13, 2022.
Mrs. Birely was a homemaker and attended services at Rouzerville Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed puzzles, flowers and playing games.
She is survived by three children, E. Charlie Birely, Jr. (Ruby) of Waynesboro, Tina M. Longnecker (Michael) of Waynesboro and Teresa A. Butler (Phillip) of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clayton Davis of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky E. Birely and Mitchell L. Birely; five grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis Stumbaugh.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 10, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro with Rev. Paul Swope officiating. Burial will follow in Antietam Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, in the funeral home.
