Mrs. Dorothy L. (Anderson) Snider, 85, of Waynesboro, passed away on January 1, 2025, at Quincy Village.

Born April 7, 1939, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of Guy V. and Vivian A. (Snurr) Anderson.

She graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1957 and completed a program of study at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC in 1959. On August 29 of that same year, she married David A. Snider of Chambersburg.

Dorothy and David were charter members of Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro, where she served faithfully as pianist and organist for over 50 years. Along with her husband she was an enthusiastic supporter of international missions.

In addition to being a faithful mother of four, Dorothy was a teacher’s aide at Heritage Academy in Hagerstown, MD, and then receptionist for Quincy Village until her retirement.

She enjoyed sewing and was known for making beautiful things for her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping with friends and family and reading at home. She was especially fond of the beach and would vacation with family members in Ocean City, NJ as often as possible. After her husband passed away December 14, 1982, Dorothy spent her years serving at church, enjoying the company of friends and relatives, and traveling to visit her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in PA, OH, CA, TX, and Japan. When her health brought her traveling days to an end in 2019, she became a resident at Quincy Village until her passing.

Mrs. Snider is survived by one sister, Lois Anderson of Waynesboro. She is also survived by her daughter, Debbie Melton and husband Phillip of Seki, Gifu ken, Japan, and her three sons: Timothy and wife Robin of Tyrone, PA; Andrew and wife Pamela of Austin, TX; and Daniel and wife Robin of Knoxville, TN. She leaves 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 5, 2025 in Grace Baptist Church, 623 N. Grant St. Ext. Waynesboro. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 P.M.
