Joseph M. Hargadon, 93, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 in Brookview at Menno Haven. Born August 13, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Joseph M. Hargadon, Sr. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Berry) Cratty.

Joe served with the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1948 until his honorable discharge in 1958. Following service he obtained his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Villanova University and a master’s degree in engineering from Drexel University. After working as a mechanical engineer for a number of years in the Baltimore area he went back to school to obtain his second master’s degree in theology, with his theology degree he taught religious studies for the Catholic Church also in the Baltimore area. Joe ended his working career as a system analyst with the federal government.

Joe was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg. He and his late wife, Barbara traveled for 10 years with the Airstream Club. Joe was a great man with a lifetime of knowledge to share.

He is survived by his son, Trevor T. Stewart and wife Ginger of Blacksburg, VA; grandson, Paul T. Stewart; sister, Amy Palmer; and nephews, Briggs, Gregory, and David Palmer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Menocal) Hargadon who passed away October 14, 2022; daughter, Lisa Stewart; brother, E. William Hargadon; and sister, Kay Hargadon. 

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
