WAYNESBORO- The Rotary Club of Waynesboro submitted the following club news:

Last Meeting’s Program (4.23.24 bulletin)

Michelle Gilfus of the area’s Visiting Angels franchise offered Rotary members a look at the services her organization provides. She said two truths in life are that everyone gets old and that families don’t live as close to each other as they once did. But most people want to remain home rather than go into nursing home facilities, and Michelle said the workers in her organization can help them remain at home. Visiting Angels can provide light housekeeping, personal care, meal preparation, transportation and other services, although they don’t provide medical services. They work for a minimum three-hour shift and can stay on site up to 24 hours if needed. There are currently 42 volunteers in a district that stretches from Fayetteville south into Washington and Frederick counties in Maryland. The group is working toward getting Medicare and Medicaid to pay for their services, which those programs don’t cover now.
